A Little About Me
My name is Julie Ruxton and I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in Education in Counseling. I have spent the past 11 years as a practicing school counselor, working with students in grades 9-12. During that time, I've supported hundreds of adolescents and families through transitions, anxiety, decision-making, identity development, the college admissions process, and life's growing pains.
Prior to this, I worked in mental health care.
After spending over a decade sitting across from teenagers every day, I've learned how they see the world. I bring that understanding into coaching conversations, helping you feel less lost in translation and more connected to your kid. In addition, the skills and perspective that come from years of working with young people, like navigating change, understanding communication and managing stress, translate naturally to anyone facing their own transitions and challenges.
In addition to my counseling background, I am a Life Coach with training through the Coach Training Alliance, which is fully accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). What drew me to life coaching is its belief that you already have the answers within you. The coaching relationship is simply the space where you get to find them. Home Base was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a steady place to land while navigating life's challenges and transitions. My work combines professional training, life experience, and a belief that growth unfolds when we feel understood and at home.
I live and work in Westchester County, NY, where I'm also a mom of two girls, a dog mom, and a cat mom, so I know firsthand what it means to juggle a full life while still wanting to show up for yourself and the people you love.
Life coaching is not therapy. It's a forward-focused process where we work together on growth and goals to help you move from where you are to where you want to be. Sessions are held virtually, with in-person available upon request.
